Worldbridges web hosting for Tibetans
-
Jeff Lebow has been providing free, professional-grade web hosting
for Tibetan and Mongol websites for the past eight years,
at
www.worldbridges.com,
and Tibetan webcasting at
www.tibetanbridges.com.
-
When there were only a few sites, this was easy
for Jeff to cover on the same server with his education sites.
But now he is paying for a full server just
for our sites (over 80 at last count)!
(See list of sites at
wb.webwalker.to)
-
You could sponsor hosting for a website,
or even pay for a full month of server

Laptop for Lobsang Monlam
-
Lobsang Monlam, creator of the Lobsang Bod-Yig (Tibetan font)
needs a laptop for continuing his work on the font.

At present he has only a desktop pc.
A laptop would help him greatly in being
able to work anywhere.
-
See story about Lobsang Monlam
on this site (English),

-
TibCoders, the TCV students' computer club
at Upper TCV, Dharamshala needs systems and hardware
to learn web, programming and network on.
-
six desktops and/or laptops
so they all can practice in the limited time
they have in the day.
-
six flash drives
so they can carry their work between computers
at TCV cyber and TCV computer lab.
-
At present (April 2007) there are six students
sharing one laptop running windows 98.
There is one more computer available, but no
monitor for it.
This situation is not workable, and has
caused the classes to be discontinued for the time being.

translating
Tibetan Translators for webwalker.to and tibetangeeks.com
-
Many Tibetans are learning and using IT, but are
forced to learn things in English. It would much
benefit Tibetans as individuals, and also Tibetan
culture and its preservation, if this information
could be in the Tibetan language.
-
TibetanGeeks.Com and WebWalker.to has much info
especially geared towards Tibetans, but so far
this info is all in English.
-
If you can translate english into clear, readable
tibetan, and have some spare time, your help
would be of great value to Tibetans.
If you don't have computer knowledge, this
is not a problem —
we can help you learn as you translate!
